Immerse yourself in Nottingham’s heritage with a weekend of demonstrations by skilled artisans.
Watch how they use traditional techniques and generations of knowledge to keep these ancient crafts alive.
Members of the Nottingham and District Guild of Wavers, Spinners and Dyers [link opens in new tab/ window] will give demonstrations in spinning, rag-rugging, crocheting, knitting and weaving.
Artisan printers from The Smallprint Company [link opens in new tab/ window] will be bringing one of our wonderful printing presses back to life.
Members of the Nottinghamshire Bobbin Lace Society [link opens in new tab/ window] will be back with us showing the intricate art of bobbin lace making.
The demonstrators will have a range of handmade goods on display for you to purchase and they will be taking commissions for bespoke work.
A number of our very own talented volunteers will be demonstrating their skills in ancient technologies – we will be running soap making demonstrations as well as woodworking techniques by our resident Joiner.
The Blacksmith’s Forge will also be open, with smithing demonstrations by our resident Blacksmith.
Our 5 large galleries will be open as normal, with lots more to see and do, including our working telephone exchange and model railway, children’s activity trail and colouring competition.
